Bio: This is my first time on a vessel this large and for such an extended stay. I once took a summer course that allowed me to live on a sailboat for ten days, but besides that, I have grown up on a recreational boat with my family taking frequent outings. This is actually why I am interested in marine science; I have been going out on the water since before I could walk and developed a passion to try and protect the beauty I saw around me. On this cruise, I hope to connect with scientists who work in the field that share my passion and learn everything I can from them (being I may be the youngest on the ship, this is quite a lot).
What I’m doing on this cruise: We will be tracking ocean acidity and carbonate ion concentration (which are both important for the health of organisms like corals).
